NC high school soccer player suspended after video shows her knocking down rival

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – A goalie for a North Carolina high school soccer team has been suspended after knocking down a rival player.

WNCN reported that video posted to YouTube shows Pine Forest goalie Cassie Sturtz knocking down Pinecrest High School player Riley Barrett.

The incident happened at the end of a recent game between the two schools and resulted in Sturtz being suspended for two games.

Pine Forest lost the game 4-1 after going into the game undefeated, according to WNCN.

The student who was knocked to the ground was able to eventually leave the field on her own, according to the Fayetteville Observer.
