Grandfather runs over, kills 2-year-old granddaughter in NC

FOREST CITY, N.C. — Forest City authorities continue to investigate after a 2-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in killed Monday night.

Officers of Forest City Police Department responded to Angila Street in Forest City at around 7:20 p.m. Monday, in reference to a child being struck by a vehicle driven by a family member.

Gullermo Ruiz, the deceased’s grandfather, reported to officers that he did not see the child as he backed his vehicle from a private driveway.

The child was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional where she succumbed to her injuries.
