BURLINGTON, N.C. — Officers with the Burlington Police Department are searching for a 16-year-old who is accused of shooting at a man who confronted him over a recent home break-in.

Police responded to a shots fired call on Oak Street just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim told police that he confronted the teen about a recent break-in at his home.

The teen became upset and ran into his home on Oak Street. He then came back out with a long-gun and started firing at the victim, according to police.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police say the teen was last seen driving south on Oak Street in a white SUV.

The teen, who has not been named because he is a juvenile, is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
