7.5 pounds of meth seized, woman arrested in traffic stop in Guilford County

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A woman was arrested on Tuesday night after more than seven pounds of crystal methamphetamine was found in her vehicle, according to Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes.

Marta Lilian Lopez, 47, of Ontario, Calif., is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.

At 10:39 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unity conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2007 Hona Accord driven by Lopez on Interstate 73 near Interstate 85.

According to Barnes, during a probable cause search of the vehicle based on a K-9 alert, approximately 7.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine was located concealed within the spare tire of the vehicle.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $250,000, Barnes said.

Lopez is being held on a $1 million bond.
