Pedestrian hit, killed by tractor-trailer on I-40 in Forsyth County

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. -- A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 in Forsyth County on Thursday, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The identity of the victim has not been released. The incident was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. near the Union Cross Road exit.

Lanes in both directions had been closed, but have since reopened.

Highway Patrol, Winston-Salem police and Forsyth County emergency workers are on the scene.
