MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – A “bloody” box found in Myrtle Beach that was labeled “human remains” turned out to be filled with rotten vegetables.

WBTW reported that the cardboard box was found Thursday morning in a ditch and was turned over to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

The only things inside the box were a rotting tomato and an onion, according to investigators. The “blood” was likely food coloring.

“I suppose you could’ve made a tomato, onion sandwich,” Horry County Coroner Robert Edge told WBTW.

There is no current word on who put the box there.
