NC man charged with DUI after crashing into ambulance head-on

FLORENCE, S.C. – A North Carolina man faces DUI charges after allegedly crashing head-on into an ambulance and injuring two EMS workers, resulting in one having her leg amputated.

WBTW reported that Jody Lynn Hagler, 45, of Norwood, N.C., faces charges in the wreck which happened Wednesday morning on a bridge in Florence, S.C.

The ambulance was responding to an emergency at the time of the crash, according to officials.

The suspect has been charged with driving under suspension and felony DUI and was booked into the Florence County Detention Center.

Tessie Odom Smith, 47, of Pamplico, and Joshua Craig, 29, of Florence, were injured in the wreck. Smith lost her right leg due to the crash and remains in the hospital.
