Police arrest man accused of shooting, injuring man outside Burlington hotel

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Police have arrested a man accused of shooting and injuring a teenager outside a Burlington hotel over the weekend.

Jaiquan Montique McDaniel, 18 of Whitsett, was charged Friday with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Burlington police said they were called to the Red Roof Inn at 2444 Maple Avenue at 12:20 a.m. Saturday in reference to a shots fired call.

Arriving officers found that 17-year-old Vonoshetha Miller of Burlington had been shot in the front parking lot of the hotel. He was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers said the shooting happened after an argument between two men outside the hotel. One of the men allegedly pulled out a handgun and started shooting.

The suspect was placed in the Alamance County Jail under an $80,000 secured bond.
