High school teacher in Burlington faces charges of sexual activity with a student
BURLINGTON, N.C. – A high school teacher at Williams High School in Burlington faces charges of sexual activity with a student.
Robert Carlsson Wooten, 34, of Burlington, was charged Friday with one count of sexual activity with a student by a teacher and one count of indecent liberties with a student by a teacher.
Administrators at Williams High School notified police on Wednesday of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student, according to police.
The suspect was arrested Friday and released from jail after posting a $40,000 secured bond, according to police.
Wooten resigned from Williams High on Thursday and had been there since August of last year. He taught social studies at Turrentine Middle School in Burlington from August 2005 to June 2015.
The investigation is ongoing and investigators were assisted by administrators with the Alamance Burlington School System.
