Alamance County man wakes up to find alleged burglar in bedroom

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — An Alamance County man woke up to find an alleged burglar in his bedroom Friday morning.

Deputies with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on N.C. Highway 49 South Liberty in reference to a burglary just before 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies found 19-year-old Nicholas Austin Bailey walking along the roadway near the home.

He was taken into custody while authorities conducted an investigation.

The victim told deputies he awoke to find a man standing inside his bedroom. According to the victim, he confronted the suspect, who then fled the scene.

Deputies said they suspect Bailey entered the home through an unsecured door.

Bailey was charged with first-degree burglary. He was placed in the Alamance County Detention Center under a  $50,000 secured bond.
