FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. -- A woman battling cancer has turned to Facebook to find a new forever home for her dogs she lovingly calls "The Aussie Posse" after finding out she only has a few months to live, according to KCPQ.

Kathleen Zuidema, who's never been a smoker, begins chemotherapy Thursday for lung cancer which has spread to her liver.

With doctors saying she only has a few months to live, Zuidema turned to Facebook to find a loving home for her three companions.

“They are a package deal,” wrote Zuidema. “It is a huge thing to ask of one person but the thought of them being separated is more than l can bear.”

Zuidema said the three dogs, Autumn, Mona and Finnegan, have been by her side since they were just puppies.

Now she is hoping they can remain a family, even if she isn't in the picture.

Zuidema's post about finding "The Aussie Posse" a new home has been shared more than 21,000 times since Saturday.

Multiple people have offered to take the dogs in and Zuidema is working with a friend to carefully vet all of the offers.

“They are bonded to me and I hope they will add hope and joy to someone else’s life because they’ve just been my life, my world, my joy,” Zuidema told KCPQ.
