US investigating 420,000 Ford F-150s for brake failure
The U.S. government is investigating reports of brake failure that may affect approximately 420,000 Ford F-150 pickup trucks.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a report on its website that it has received 33 consumer complaints and four reports of crashes.
The reports of brake failure apply to 2013 through 2014 year model Ford F-150 full-size pickups with 3.5L engines.
“The complaints allege symptoms of brake pedal going to the floor with complete loss of brake effectiveness, brake warning lamp illumination, and/or low or empty master cylinder reservoir fluid level with no visible leakage,” the report says.
A primary evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
