Former Piedmont Triad official indicted on embezzlement charges

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The former chief executive of a regional economic development agency has been indicted on four charges relating to allegations that he took nearly $250,000 from the group.

David M. Powell, former CEO of the Piedmont Triad Partnership, was indicted last week by a Guilford County grand jury for two counts of embezzlement greater than $100,000 and two counts of obtaining by false pretense property worth more than $100,000.
