Local artist brings comic book to life

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Barrett Stanley slips a copy of his book out of a plastic sleeve, according to the Greensboro News & Record.

The cover of “Heartbreak Quadrant” features two women, blonde Ida and purple-haired Kumi, who venture through the galaxy peddling relics from a vanished Earth.

What he sees, though, is also three years of labor, and “a lot of nights and weekends of just sticking to it.”

The 54-page comic book, which was funded in part by a Kickstarter campaign, is Stanley’s first published work.
