Third man charged with murder after man found dead in Rockingham Co. home

EDEN, N.C. – A third man faces murder charges in connection to a man who was found shot and killed inside his Rockingham County home last month.

Demetrius Lamar Farmer, 26, of Danville, Va., has been charged with first degree murder and first degree kidnapping in connection to the death of Benjamin Alexander Baker.

Baker, 32, was found dead at his home at 830 Beck Road northeast of Eden shortly before 11 a.m. Jan. 15.

A friend was checking on a friend and found him dead from an apparent gunshot wound at the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

Two other suspects were arrested earlier this month in connection to the victim’s death.

Daquarius Rashawn Martin, 18, of Martinsville, Va., and Zachary Wray Haley, 18, of Axton, Va., also face charges of first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder.

Danville police arrested Farmer on Friday night. He was placed in the Danville City Jail under no bond. The other two suspects were previously placed in the Henry County Jail under no bond.
