BURLINGTON, NC— Residents may see cloudy or discolored water as engineers flush the water distribution system for the installation of the Hwy. 87 water main.

Officials said that this is the result of the scouring action on the water lines and is a temporary condition.

Discolored water can be cleared by running water through your outside spigots and bathtubs, officials said.

Officials warned that residents should not wash clothes in water that is discolored as it could result in stains.

Engineers will flush the water distribution system from Feb. 22 to 25, officials said.

Questions should be directed to the City of Burlington Engineering Department at 336-222-5050.
