Pedestrian hit, killed on US 220 Business in Asheboro identified

ASHEBORO, N.C. — A pedestrian was hit and killed in Asheboro Friday morning.

Anderson G. Luther, 21, of 2318 Forest Hills Drive, was killed after being hit by a Chevy Silverado around 5 a.m., according to Highway Patrol.

Luther was hit while walking in the northbound lane of U.S. 220 business. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lanes of U.S. 220 near Oakhurst Road were closed immediately following the incident.

Troopers said the 65-year-old driver who hit Luther was driving at or below the speed limit when the incident happened.

No charges have been filed at this point in the investigation, although Highway Patrol said no charges are anticipated.

The road has since re-opened.
