Burlington man arrested on assault charges

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Burlington man was arrested after officers say he assaulted a woman Thursday night.

Officers with the Burlington Police Department responded to the Econo Lodge, located at 2133 Hanford Road, after an employee called to report a possible assault at 11:54 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who had a severe injury to her right eye.

As a result of the investigation, officers determined David Windell Williams, of Burlington,  assaulted the victim by striking her in the head. Officers said the incident happened in the 700 block of Cameron Street.

Williams was arrested and charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury.

He is being held without bond at the Alamance County Jail under a domestic hold.
