Suspect in custody in Burlington homicide

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police have arrested a man who they believe is connected to Tuesday morning’s homicide.

Barry Lynn Williams, 47, of Burlington, was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Williams turned himself in at the Alamance County Jail Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Border Street around 2:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Anthony Lewis Capps with apparent gunshot wounds.

Capps was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

So far the motive for the altercation has not been determined. Burlington police said witnesses are cooperating with the investigation.

Williams is being held under a $1 million secured bond.
