Winston-Salem man accused of fleeing Davidson County checkpoint
DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is facing multiple charges after police say he tried to avoid a checkpoint Friday.
Randall Willard, 40, of 456 Bobby Willard Road in Winston-Salem, was charged with two stop sign violations, DWI and resist, obstruct, delay.
Davidson County deputies were conducting a driver’s license checkpoint on Feb. 12 at Friendship Ledford Road and Fox Meadow Lane when a vehicle attempted to avoid the check and led officers on a brief chase in the Walburg area.
The driver later stopped at Central Drive off of Gumtree Road and that’s when deputies took Willard into custody.
Willard was also served with an order of failure to appear from Surry County. He is being held on a $11,000 secure bond.
