ASHEVILLE, N.C. – A North Carolina man has been charged with murder after he allegedly killed a woman by stabbing her in the head with a screwdriver.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that James Michael Norton, 29, of Marshall, faces charges in connection to the death of 62-year-old Christina Louise Kessinger.

The victim was reportedly found stabbed in a parking lot in Asheville on Friday afternoon and was taken to a hospital where she died.

Authorities have not said why the suspect allegedly attacked the victim. He allegedly stabbed her in the skull with a screwdriver.

The suspect faces charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to the paper. He was jailed in Buncombe County without bond.
