Students who plan to attend college during the 2016-17 academic year can get free help filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA on Sat., Feb. 20, as part of FAFSA Day.
FAFSA Day is a program offered by College Foundation of North Carolina, the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the State Employees’ Credit Union.
This event is free and families are encouraged to pre-register.
Go to CFNC’s website or call their toll-free number, (866) 866-CFNC, for a complete list of event sites and to register. Just click on your county if it is highlighted in blue and find the site that is closest to you.
To be prepared for this event, participants are encouraged to bring student’s and parents’ federal 1040 tax forms for 2015, the student and one parent’s FSA ID (which can be obtained in advance from the U.S. Department of Education website), and a FAFSA web worksheet with as much information completed as possible.
During the week following FAFSA Day, State Employees’ Credit Union staff will also be available to help students complete the online forms.
