SPARTANBURG, S.C. — A South Carolina man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, who was a teen beauty pageant competitor and aspiring model.
Authorities said Akello Chinara Jeter, 20, confessed to being involved in the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Autumn Hunt, who went missing on Feb. 3, according to WSPA.
Investigators said Jeter was able to provide details that only the murderer would have known, in addition to providing authorities with new evidence.
Nineteen-year-old Hunt went missing after leaving her home in Spartanburg earlier this month.
Authorities found her burned-out black 2003 Jeep Liberty on Reidville Road on Feb. 8 and then found her body a few days later, on Feb. 11 on Sims Chapel Road.
A coroner determined that the Hunt died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Hunt was pursuing a modeling career and worked at a deli not far from where her vehicle was found, according to WNCN.
Jeter was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center without bond.
