Two men face murder charges after man found dead in Rockingham County home

EDEN, N.C. — Authorities have arrested two men in connection to a man who was found shot and killed inside his Rockingham County home last month.

Daquarius Rashawn Martin, 18, of Martinsville, Va., and Zachary Wray Haley, 18, of Axton, Va., face charges in connection to the death of Benjamin Alexander Baker.

Baker, 32, was found dead at his home at 830 Beck Road northeast of Eden shortly before 11 a.m. Jan. 15.

A friend was checking on a friend and found him dead from an apparent gunshot wound at the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both suspects were arrested Monday and charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder. Both were placed in the Henry County Jail under no bond.

Rockingham County authorities have not released any other details about the case.
