Homicide investigation underway following fatal shooting at Greensboro apartment complex

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A shooting that happened early Friday morning in Greensboro is now being investigated as a homicide.

Officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded to 3914 Overland Heights in reference to a shooting just before 1 a.m.

There they found Timothy Eugene Phifer, Jr., 24, of Greensboro, suffering from a gunshot wound. Police now say Phifer died from his injury.

According to police, Phifer was shot during a dispute in the parking lot of Colony Square Apartments.

Detectives are still investigating the incident but said they believe Phifer knew the person who shot him.
