SAN JOSE, Calif. — Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton made one grieving mother happy after fulfilling one of her late son’s bucket list items.

Scot Sieczko’s mother, Trae Sieczko, wrote a letter to the Panthers saying he was a “HUGE Cam Newton fan since his days playing at Auburn and was a Panthers fan for that same reason.”

Sieczko was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma, also known as RMS, in June, 2012. He entered a 54-week trial program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and was declared cancer-free in November, 2013, only to relapse one month later.
