Arrest made in shooting at Greensboro restaurant
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro Police made an arrest Wednesday in connection with Tuesday night’s shooting on Aycock Street.
Xavia Bovia Witcher, 35, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Police responded to Rockafellas Bar & Grille shortly after 7 p.m. when witnesses called 911 to report that someone had been shot.
Officers found the 39-year-old victim, inside the restaurant with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
After gathering statements from witnesses and evidence from the scene, Witcher was arrested. Witcher was taken into custody around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when detectives saw a man matching the description of the shooter in a vehicle in the 4600 block of West Gate City Boulevard.
Witnesses told police a disagreement between the two began inside the restaurant and it continued into the parking lot where the shooting happened. After the shooting, the victim went inside the restaurant asking for treatment to his wounds.
Witcher is being held in the Greensboro Central Jail on a $50,000 secured bond.
The victim remains in the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
