Person shot in stomach near convenience store in Greensboro; suspect sought

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man was shot near a convenience store in Greensboro on Tuesday night and police are searching for a suspect.

The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. near the Marathon gas station on South Aycock Street near Gate City Boulevard.

According to Officer TK Brown with Greensboro police, the victim was shot in the stomach.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, Brown said. There is no word on his condition.

The suspect police are searching for was described as being a black male, approximately 30 years old, 6 feet tall and 185 pounds, wearing a Carolina Panthers hat, blue jeans, a blue shirt and possibly a blue jacket, Brown said.

The suspect was last seen operating a white vehicle, Brown said.

There is no word on a motive for the shooting.
