Eden woman shot to death, found in roadway; suspect in custody

EDEN, N.C. -- An arrest has been made after an Eden woman was found deceased from a gunshot wound and lying in a roadway Thursday morning, according to Lt. Clint Simpson with Eden police.

Carl Anthony Ellington Jr., 20, of Reidsville, is charged with first-degree murder.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, Eden police officers responded to the intersection of South Avenue and Merriman Street in reference to a body lying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Breandra Chance Patrick, 20, of Eden, lying in the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation revealed Patrick died from a gunshot wound, Simpson said.

Ellington was taken into custody and placed in the Rockingham County Jail with no bond allowed. He is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on Feb. 11.
