Briahna Gerloff

POTTSTOWN, Pa. — A pregnant Pennsylvania teen died after shoveling snow outside of her home Saturday morning, according to NBC Connecticut.

Briahna Gerloff, 18, collapsed shortly after she shoveled snow outside her home on 2nd Street around 9 a.m.

Family members told NBC Connecticut that Gerloff was 8 months pregnant and suffered from heart defects.

“I told her it probably wasn’t a good idea for her to be outside shoveling,” a family member told the station. “She wanted to do it anyway.”

The family member said he had gone across the street when Gerloff went inside to take a break. When he returned, he found Gerloff unresponsive on the kitchen floor.

“I started doing CPR,” he said. “That’s when my neighbor came over and helped with CPR and tried to revive her and then the ambulance came.”

Gerloff and her baby were pronounced dead shortly after medics arrived.
