LUMBERTON, N.C. — Authorities say a child was killed and another injured in a pit bull attack in Robeson Count, according to WTVD.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said it happened near the 2400 block of Odum Road around 11:20 a.m. Sunday.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found a 7-year-old, Talen Nathan West, unresponsive with puncture wounds on his body. An 8-year-old boy, Jaylen Ray West, was bitten in the lower part of his body, deputies say.

The two were taken to Southeastern Medical Center where Talen died. Jaylen was treated and released.
