Kernersville woman killed in weather-related wreck

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A 55-year-old woman was killed in a weather-related wreck Wednesday afternoon.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Rosa Leake of Kernersville was killed in a head-on collision on Vance Road shortly after 4 p.m.

Leake was driving a 1999 Honda with her daughter as a passenger when she hit a patch of snow or ice and lost control of the vehicle.

Her vehicle traveled left of center and collided head-on with a 2013 Chevy pickup truck.

Both Leake and her daughter, who is a minor, were taken to the hospital, where Leake later died. Her daughter is being kept overnight at Brenner Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup is not facing any charges.
