Cam Newton named 2015 NFL MVP by writers association

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been voted the 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year by the Professional Football Writers of America, the team announced Wednesday.

Newton completed 35 touchdown passes, with 10 rushing touchdowns and 3,837 passing yards while helping lead the Panthers to a 15-1 regular season record and the top seed in the NFC.

Newton is the 41st MVP honored by the PFWA and the first member of the Panthers to win the award.

This is Cam Newton’s fifth season in the NFL.
