WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Avalyn Maier, of Winston-Salem, just might be the most dedicated Carolina Panthers fan out there -- and she's only 2 years old.

Avalyn's dad, Thomas Maier, said she's been watching Panthers game since the month she was born.

Maier said he's a die-hard Panthers fan, but his wife cheers for the Pittsburgh Steelers. From the time Avalyn was born they joked about which side she was going to choose.

As it turns out, Avalyn was a natural Panthers fan.

Last year, Avalyn noticed a Panthers roster sitting on the kitchen counter and wanted to see it. Maier said he jokingly asked Avalyn, who was 1-year-old at the time, where Cam Newton was on the roster. To his surprise, she pointed him out immediately.

Maier said his daughter's love of the Panthers just grew from there.

Avalyn's favorite players are Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly, and Mike Remmers, an offensive tackle, who even some of the most dedicated fans may not recognize. Maier said Avalyn refers to Remmers as "red beard."

Maier said he took the video above right after the Panthers lost to the Atlanta Falcons. He had put the roster away for a while, but was hoping Avalyn could bring some good luck to the Panthers in their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- apparently it worked.
