MACON COUNTY, N.C. — Rescue workers recovered the body of a man they say fell from a waterfall in Macon County over the weekend.

According to WLOS, the body of 45-year-old Sean Kasey of Villa Rica, Ga., was recovered around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Crews began searching for a fall victim at Dry Falls around noon on Saturday.

Robbie Forrester, assistant chief of Highlands Fire and Rescue, told WLOS, “Higher than average water conditions, gusty winds and near freezing temperatures made searching difficult.”

Rescuers from Macon and Jackson counties, as well as the City of Asheville Fire Department, helped with the search.

There is no word on what caused the man to fall.
