Vending machine thefts on the rise at Greensboro apartment complexes
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro Police Department is urging vending machine owners and property managers at apartment complexes to check their vending machines for signs of vandalism after a string of thefts.
There have been nine vending machine thefts at Greensboro apartment complexes during the last three weeks, according to police.
In some of the incidents, the suspects have covered up surveillance cameras with wet paper towels or turned cameras away from themselves.
Despite this, surveillance cameras were able to capture footage of two suspects.
Police said property managers should pay particular attention to the placement of their vending machines and the lighting around them because doing so can contribute to the efficiency of the security cameras.
Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (336) 373-1000 or text the tip to 274637 using the keyword badboyz. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and may result in a reward up to 2,000.
