Pedestrian struck, killed in Lexington crash

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A pedestrian was struck and killed in Lexington Saturday night.

Lexington Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian just before 9 p.m. on South Salisbury Street near East 11th Avenue.

Jacob Strickland, 21, of Lexington, was walking south on Salisbury Street when he was struck by a 1999 Toyota Camry, according to police.

Strickland was taken to N.C. Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries and died from those injuries on Jan. 11.

The driver of the Camry was not injured in the crash.

Lexington Police said the crash is still under investigation, but they do not suspect the driver or the victim were impaired.
