Family in High Point displaced after neighbor accidentally backs into house

HIGH POINT, N.C. – A family in High Point is displaced after authorities said an elderly neighbor accidentally backed a car into their home.

Authorities said it happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday at a home at 427 Northbridge Drive in High Point.

A woman across the street was backing out of her home and confused the gas and brake, crashing into the neighbor’s home, according to officials.

The call reporting the wreck was listed as a traffic report with injuries, but the extent of the injury is not known. The investigation is ongoing.

The family is reportedly displaced. Officials said the car also destroyed a water heater.

The High Point Police Department, High Point Fire Department and Guilford County emergency medical workers responded.
