Arrest made in Christmas Day homicide in High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point police have made an arrest in the Christmas Day homicide of Chiquita Lawanna Adams, according to Capt. Mike Kirk.

Shanion Donta Watson, 35, of High Point, is charged with criminal homicide.

On Dec. 25 at 12:58 p.m., High Point police officers and medical personnel responded to the Atrium Inn in reference to a medical assistance call placed by a member of the hotel staff.

Medical personnel found Adams, 35, of Greensboro, deceased in a hotel room.

High Point police have investigated and determined the death was a homicide.

On Monday, Watson was arrested in connection with the death. Watson was arrested at the Guilford County Jail where he was being detained on other charges.

There was an unharmed juvenile in the hotel room where Adams was found deceased, Kirk said.

High Point police did not disclose Watson’s bond information.
