SAN DIEGO — The polar bears at the San Diego Zoo got an early Christmas present last Friday when their habitat was turned into a winter wonderland.
A press release from the San Diego Zoo said 26 tons of snow were poured into the polar bear exhibit thanks to donors who contributed to the animal care wish list.
The three bears, Kalluk, Tatqiq and Chinook, were more than thrilled with the new addition.
“This was a special day for the polar bears, and I could tell they really loved it,” said Susan Purtell, senior keeper, San Diego Zoo. “It was great seeing them roll around in the snow, showcasing their natural behaviors.”
They spent the majority of the morning wrestling and making snow angels in the fresh powder.
