North Carolina woman accused of knocking out police officer

SWANSBORO, N.C. – A North Carolina woman is accused of knocking out a police officer who was trying to arrest her.

WCTI reported that 29-year-old Sarah Bellanca faces several charges after allegedly assaulting the female Swansboro police officer including assault on a law enforcement official and resisting arrest.

Police said it recently happened at a yacht club as the officer was trying to arrest for suspect for child support violations.

Bellanca allegedly kicked the officer and knocked her out as the officer was trying to put handcuffs on her.

A police official in Swansboro said the officer is fine and is expected to soon return to work. Her identity has not been released.
