Woman dies after accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound at NC gun range

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A woman who accidentally shot herself at a North Carolina gun range has died.

WECT reported that the unidentified 25-year-old woman accidentally shot herself Friday afternoon at BullZeye Shooting Sports Center in Wilmington.

The shooting happened in an individual booth inside the range and the woman was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to a hospital.

Various news reports have described the shooting as “accidental.” No other injuries were reported.

The shooting range posted the following statement to Facebook, which reads, in part:

As many of you know, yesterday was not a good day. A young lady passed away from a self inflicted gun shot.

BullZeye staff cannot state the importance of firearm safety enough. Most of you know this because you watch our 5 minute safety video before entering our range. We are all about safety for each individual as well as all shooters using the range.
