GREENSBORO, N.C. – A driver has been charged after allegedly crashing a truck through the front of a store in Greensboro.

It happened at Dewey’s Bakery holiday store at the Brassfield Shopping Center at 3727 Battleground Ave. shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The driver, Robert Dick of Greensboro, has been charged with careless and reckless driving. Officers believe the crash was caused by Dick speeding and being distracted.

Three people were inside the store at the time, two clerks and a customer, according to police. Nobody was hurt.

Greensboro police estimated that the store suffered about $70,000 worth of damage.

Police said the driver lost control of the red pickup truck, hit a parked car and a brick pillar and then crashed into the business.

Photos posted to social media show that the truck went completely through the front of the store and inside it.

The store is one of Dewey’s Bakery’s several “holiday store locations.”
