WILMINGTON, N.C. – A homeless woman living in the North Carolina woods is going home for Christmas thanks to the kindness of strangers.

WECT reported that it all started when Chris Meek and Trish Meek were looking for their lost dog Chubbs on Sunday in Wilmington.

The couple started searching the woods when they stumbled upon an apparent homeless woman named Tracy living in a tent.

The dog made it back home and the couple credits Tracy for helping them find Chubbs.

So they wanted to surprise Tracy with a trip back home to Ohio to be with her family for Christmas.

The couple set up a GoFundMe page and raised the money to get her home. They also gave her socks and blankets.

“We want you back with your family just like you brought Chubbs back to us,” Trish Meek said.

Tracy said she is thankful and doesn’t know what to say. She said her faith in humanity has been restored.

“Thank you so much, my grand kids are going to be so happy, and I am going to be so happy to see them,” she said. “There is nothing I can do except to pay it forward to someone else.”
