Woman dies from injuries sustained in Greensboro crash

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The driver of a van involved in two-vehicle crash on West Friendly Avenue Wednesday morning has died.

Police said Helen Stamey Martin, 81, of Greensboro, died Thursday from injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash happened at 9:38 a.m. Wednesday and involved a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan and a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado.

The two people in the van were taken to the hospital. Lisa Martin has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from Moses Cone Hospital.

A third person, in the truck, was treated and released from the collision scene for his injuries. He was identified as Michael Thomas Richardson, 68, of Greensboro.

No charges have been filed at this point. Helen Martin’s death marks Greensboro’s 21st fatal crash this year, according to police.
