REELTOWN, Al. – A North Carolina family struggling with the loss of a loved one got a “message from heaven” in the form of a balloon.
WSFA reported that the First Baptist Church of Reeltown in Alabama releases several balloons with poems attached to them during the Christmas season.
“As part of that we do a balloon release, and we pray this message finds just the right person,” said Pastor Tim Smith.
One of their balloons traveled more than 500 miles and ended up in Ryan Patterson’s mother’s front yard.
Patterson’s father died earlier this year and this is the first Christmas his family has had without him.
Patterson said the message on the balloon is just what his family needed. He said it has helped bring peace to his family.
The balloon was originally released in Alabama by two 10-year-old children.
“God uses little faces in little places to do amazing things. I tell you, it’s been our Christmas miracle,” said Pastor Smith.
The woman who wrote the poem lost her father-in-law the day the balloon was found in North Carolina, according to WSFA.
The poem reads as follows:
If you received this message today,
Just know that God has found a way.
To bring His love and peace to you,
No matter what you’re going through.
Maybe your heart is broken in two,
Maybe someone has rejected you.
But our Father’s love could fill the ocean,
And God himself set this in motion.
Wherever you are and whatever you’re done,
God wants you to know that He sent His son
To be with you each day and hour,
And infuse your heart with His love and power.
This message was sent to you today
By a loving God who found a way.
That it came to you was no accident,
God alone knew for whom it was meant.
