Intruder says ‘my mom is dying’ before being shot, killed by NC homeowner

BESSEMER CITY, N.C. — Bessemer City Police are investigating a shooting and attempted robbery. It happened Tuesday night on East Texas Avenue.

According to the homeowner, he noticed something was wrong when his dogs were barking and acting up. The homeowner, who asked not to be identified, said he then noticed a man on his front lawn. Police said that man was Anthony Lamar Brown. According to the homeowner, Brown said his mother was dying and he needed money.

After Brown told him about his mother, the homeowner said the man showed a weapon and forced them both inside.
