VERSAILLES, Ky. — A 6-year-old was fatally stabbed during a break-in at his Kentucky home early Monday morning.

The Woodford County Coroner identified the victim as Logan Tipton.

WKYT reported that 32-year-old Ronald Exantus of Indianapolis has been charged with murder and burglary.

Police responded to a home on Douglas Avenue in Versailles, Ky., just before 4 a.m. after receiving reports about a burglary in progress.

The homeowner called 911 to report an armed intruder inside the home.

According to court documents obtained by WKYT, Exantus went to an upstairs bedroom where Logan was sleeping and stabbed him in the head several times with a kitchen knife.

Logan’s father was able to detain Exantus until police arrived.

Exantus later confessed to stabbing the 6-year-old.

It is still unclear why Exantus targeted the home.
