WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A motorcyclist died after leading police in North Carolina on a 145 mph chase and crashing into a truck, according to WRAL.

A Wake County deputy reportedly tried to stop the suspect on a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle for driving reckless and reaching 80 mph in a 45 mph zone.

The suspect then led police on a chase, which at times reached speeds of 145 mph, according to authorities.

Police said the suspect eventually crossed the center line and crashed into a 2008 Chevy Silverado stopped at an intersection in Raleigh.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, but nobody in the Silverado was injured, according to WRAL. The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.
