NC man charged with using sword to kill dog pleads guilty

CARY, N.C. — A man accused of stabbing a dog to death with a samurai sword in Cary, pleaded guilty in court Friday.

Douglas Joseph Hagler pleaded guilty to one count of felony animal cruelty.

In May, authorities said a 13-month-old Husky named “Koda” was tied to a tree when it was stabbed. Hagler owned the dog. Investigators said it had apparently bitten Hagler’s roommate.
